I’ve been looking for alternative to the ubiquitous donut-shaped cereal (that shall remain nameless) for Adam’s pre-meal, pincer grasp practice. I don’t think those O’s are evil, but I figured I could find something less processed and without sugar and salt. The ingredients in O’s:

Whole Grain Oats, Modified Corn Starch, Sugar, Oat Bran, Salt, Calcium Carbonate, Oat Fiber, Tripotassium Phosphate, Corn Starch, Wheat Starch, Vitamin E (Mixed Tocopherols) added to preserve freshness

I was at the Bulk Barn (Thomas and I were there to buy candy – I appreciate the irony) and found these:

Ingredients? Organic brown rice. There weren’t outrageously expensive, considering it will take Adam an eon to eat these and this bag was cheaper than a box of the nameless cereal. The company makes other “puffed” single grain cereals, too. Not to mention Adam thinks that are darn tasty and fun to eat. Mission accomplished.

  1. Ollie eats the Kamut version of these! and he is TOTALLY OBSESSED with them. So watch out for that! If Oliver so much as hears the sound of the bag crinkle it is a five-count countdown to hysterics, unless a puff is produced.
